”I wouldnt be here if driving a DTM racer it wouldnt be big fun, for me,” Schumacher told the ‘Bild Zeitung. “And - it goes without saying - if I wouldnt seriously consider racing in DTM.” The six-time GP winner made his first experiences at the wheel of the DTM Mercedes as early as in mid-January and during the three days of testing at Estoril, Portugal, he wants to deepen these experiences. “Now, I want to use every minute for getting to know the car better,” he reveals.
Should Schumacher opt for entering DTM this year, a 2008.spec car wouldnt be a must for the German. “Should a co-operation come about, I would race one of the 2007-spec cars,” Schumacher adds. “After all, ‘Im new in the DTM business and would have to get to know everything and accustom to racing the car. And you dont need a new car to do so. In the learning year, winning races just would not yet be the goal.”
