“Of course, our ultimate target is the middle step of the podium - we are in Formula One to win and we want to do that soon," said Toyota team principal Tadashi Yamashina. "Our clear target in 2008 is to make a big improvement in our results because we were not satisfied with our performance last year. We expect to have a truly competitive car so our drivers should be aiming to finish in the points regularly and challenging for the podium.”
Incumbent driver Jarno Trulli was present at the launch, alongside new team mate Timo Glock and third driver Kamui Kobayashi. Other members of the squads management were also in attendance, including team president John Howett and the brains behind the design, Luca Marmorini, Toyotas senior general manager (engine) and his chassis counterpart, Pascal Vasselon.
The team finished their disappointing 2007 campaign sixth in the standings, with 13 world championship points.
