The team decided not to run the Scot in the afternoon session whilst they investigated the cause of the accident, and were subsequently requested to meet with race stewards to discuss the crash.
During the meeting, attended by Red Bulls team principal Christian Horner and a technical representative, the squad were asked to provide a report "verifying that the integrity of the suspension is such that the car should not be deemed 'of dangerous constructions' under Article 2.3 of the 2008 Formula One Technical Regulations."
Stewards have the power to exclude Red Bull if they decide the car does not meet requirements, but the team hope that Coulthard will be back in action on Saturday morning for the final practice session ahead of qualifying for Malaysian Grand Prix.
