FIA confirms 2011 regulations, team orders allowed

Following 2010’s final meeting of its World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) in Monaco on Friday, Formula One racing’s governing body, the FIA, has outlined regulation changes that will come into force over the next three seasons.

Greener engines to be introduced from 2013

The FIA's World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) has approved new regulations which will see the 2.4 litre V8s currently used by Formula One teams replaced by four cylinder 1.6 litre engines from 2013. The decision to give the go-ahead to the changes follows lengthy discussions between the FIA, engine manufacturers and specialists.

A change in the air - 2011’s technical revisions

The final chapter of the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship will be written this weekend in Abu Dhabi, where one of four men will be crowned World Champion: Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso; Red Bull Racing’s, Sebastian Vettel or Mark Webber; or McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton. Alonso leads the chase with 246 points, followed by Webber on 238, Vettel on 231 and Hamilton on 222.

The Korean Grand Prix will take place later this month after the newly-built Korean International Circuit received FIA approval. Following a two-day track inspection, FIA race director Charlie Whiting described the Yeongam circuit as ‘satisfactory’ and announced the mandatory licence would be issued through the Korea Automobile Racing Association (KARA).
