FIA post-qualifying press conference - British GP, Silverstone Circuit

Drivers: 1 - Fernando Alonso (Ferrari), 2 - Mark Webber (Red Bull Racing), 3 - Michael Schumacher (Mercedes)
Q: Fernando first pole since 2010, very difficult to get it right today, especially with that long delay in Q2. What was the secret though at the end?
Fernando Alonso: No secret. I think it’s tricky conditions for everyone. You have to be calm in some difficult moments.

FIA post-qualifying press conference - European GP, Valencia Street Circuit

Drivers: 1 - Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull Racing); 2 - Lewis Hamilton (McLaren); 3 - Pastor Maldonado (Williams).
Q: Congratulations Sebastian, a third pole in a row at this race and only one flying lap in Q3 to try to do it.
Sebastian Vettel: Yeah, one shot there in the end, which turned out to turned out to be a very good lap. Q1 and Q2 were not to our liking.

Q: Franz, as it's your first time in the press conference this year, can you give us an assessment of your two new drivers? They've had time to settle down. Two drivers for whom there are a lot of new circuit too.
Franz Tost: Yes. Daniel Ricciardo, our driver from Australia, he is a little bit more experienced, he did already 11 races last year.

Q: Lewis, one word: wow. What a race. That must feel incredible?
Lewis Hamilton: It does, it does. Firstly, I want to say congratulations to these two guys (Grosjean and Perez), who have done an incredible job, but also just to the team, who never seem to give up.

Q: Sebastian, we’ve seen pole decided all year being decided by mere hundredths of a second, but today it was almost a quarter of a second. What made the difference?
Sebastian Vettel: Well, it’s difficult to say. I think we’ve had a fantastic weekend so far to be honest. Yesterday was very smooth, we didn’t have any problems with the car.

Team Representatives: Andrew Green (Force India), Antonio Cuquerella (HRT), Graeme Lowdon (Marussia), Jonathan Neale (McLaren), Mark Gillan (Williams).
Q: Antonio, today there was an incident in the pitlane with one of your mechanics and Pedro De la Rosa. Just to clear up any misconceptions or any misunderstandings, can you tell us how your mechanic is?
Antonio Cuquerella: The mechanic I think, happily, is OK. He just got some bruises and a swollen knee. So, it looked worse when it happened but luckily he’s going to be back with us tonight from hospital. Some checks have been done but nothing important. He’s going to have some pain but in a few days he’s going to be back to work.

Q: Mark, your second Monaco win, you won’t have a closer one than that, how are you feeling?
Mark Webber: Yeah, I’m feeling incredible mate. It was a very interesting race. Reasonably straightforward at the start: getting the gap on the Supersofts, just managing it with Nico. Obviously we had a bit of a gap over the rest as well, so both of us were getting away, and it was just a matter then of trying to get back into a reasonable gap.

Q: Michael, many congratulations, a great lap. I guess the only shame is that you have to move five places back on the grid, so a bittersweet feeling is it?
Michael Schumacher: First of all, I am more than thrilled and excited about making a pole here in Monaco.

Q: Vijay, first of all welcome, I think this is your first Grand Prix of the year and you love Monaco. But how do you keep in touch when you’re a long way away?
Vijay Mallya: Well you know, particularly at the start of the season there are too many conflicting obligations that I have.

Drivers: Romain Grosjean (Lotus), Pastor Maldonado (Williams), Charles Pic (Marussia), Mark Webber (Red Bull Racing), Michael Schumacher (Mercedes) and Lewis Hamilton (McLaren).
Q: Romain, first of all, tell us about your experience of the Monaco circuit.
Romain Grosjean: Well, first of all, different feelings in Monaco: special track; special grand prix. For sure for us is a little bit home because we are close to France, so very happy to race in front of the fans, hopefully a lot of blue, white and red flags in the tribune.

Q: Pastor, your first victory, brilliantly judged - describe your emotions?
Pastor Maldonado: I think it’s a wonderful day, not just for me but for all the team. We have been pushing so hard since last year to try to improve race by race and here we are.

Lotus and Cosworth to end engine agreement

The Lotus team and engine suppliers Cosworth are set to end their partnership at the end of this season it has been confirmed. Like fellow newcomers Virgin and HRT, Lotus had entered a three-year agreement with Cosworth prior to joining the Formula One grid at the start of this year.
